That is exactly what the Frog Grips Elite were developed for: chalk-free gymnastics grips for high volume on the bar that need no chalk, even on very smooth or powder-coated bars. Elite is the grippiest model in the Frog Grips range and targets the real problem: the contact between grip and bar. The fingerless shape is especially suited to athletes who put their thumb over the bar; however, the strong adhesion also changes how you release from the bar.

Three layers of Hypalon, Kevlar and microfiber protect your hands

The 2.4 mm construction combines three layers: Hypalon makes contact with the bar, Kevlar reinforces the middle, and soft microfiber suede forms the back against your hand. This combination is designed for durability, hand protection and long-term performance under heavy load, without the thickness costing you contact with the bar. When you first wear them, Elite can feel stiffer than other Frog Grips models; the Grip Guide names exactly this initially stiffer feel, along with maximum durability and maximum hand protection, as a feature of the model.

HD or OG determines coverage and feel at the wrist

HD has a wider wrist support and covers more of the hand: according to the manufacturer, this reduces fatigue and improves stability during longer sets, and larger athletes more often choose HD. OG uses a thinner support and more minimalist coverage, which makes the bar feel more natural and the slimmer shape allows more freedom of movement during fast transitions. Both versions use a neoprene pad and a pull-through strap system, are marked left and right, and offer a labeling area to prevent mix-ups. So open your hand deliberately when you want to let go, and test the grips first in the warm-up or in a technique piece before using them under fatigue in a workout; for muscle-ups, you need to learn to relax and open your hands at the top point. The right size, a correctly adjusted wrist strap and controlled dismounting keep the risk of a grip lock low.
