Protein powder

Protein powder for your fitness

For your fitness, it is important that you supply your body with all the nutrients and amino acids it needs. Proteins are especially crucial for building muscle. Athletes often do not get enough protein through their diet: with a protein shake, you take in up to 30 g of protein at once and support your body in building muscle. There is now a wide variety of protein powders. When buying, you should make sure that the protein powder contains as few additives as possible and that the protein comes from high-quality protein sources. Looking for a vegan protein powder of the best quality? You will find that in our range too!

Frequently Asked Questions About Whey Protein and Vegan Protein Sources

The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends that people between 19 and 65 consume 0.8 g of protein per kilo of body weight. If you weigh 100 kg, your protein requirement is therefore 80 g. With protein shakes, you can add up to 30 g of protein to your diet.

Whey protein contains a particularly high amount of L-leucine. This is an amino acid that counts among the BCAAs. For athletes, these are an ideal source of protein. Other protein powders rely on casein. This has a lower biological value and contains fewer BCAAs. That is why whey protein is especially well suited to support muscle building.

It is best to prepare your protein powder with milk. You can use dairy milk for this, but also go for plant-based alternatives. If you want to save calories, you can also prepare your protein shake with water. For the exact dosage, refer to the instructions from the respective manufacturer.

It’s best to have your protein shake after training. Ideally, drink it 15–45 minutes after the end of your workout. This helps the proteins support your body and muscles during recovery. The amino acids it contains also stimulate muscle growth.

Why are proteins important for building muscle?

Proteins are essential for your body. They serve as a source of energy and are responsible for muscle and cell development. That is why they are especially important for you as an athlete. When you train your muscles, your body needs enough protein to build muscle. If you do not get enough protein, your muscles will break down instead. However, many people do not manage to meet their protein needs through food. Protein sources include dairy products, meat, and fish. On a vegan diet, you get protein from sources such as legumes. If you want to build muscle, protein intake through food may not be enough for optimal results. That is why we offer you a range of vegan protein powders. They are completely plant-based and provide your body with enough protein. These include rice protein and pea protein.
